Design and Development of Indigenous Learning Processes
We have been instrumental in the design and development of indigenous culture based learning frameworks and curricula. In 2009, we designed and developed the Full Circle Project with Native Child and Family Services of Toronto, and delivered and evaluated learning activities demonstrating the concept. This cutting-edge learning framework applies regional cultural approaches to all aspects of learning, in ways that support economic, social, health, political and educational functions.
We are currently exploring the further application of this framework with regional stakeholders, in ways that explore cultural learning opportunities supporting sustainable community based economies, leadership training, and more. In 2010-11 we are developing an urban aboriginal curriculum supporting the exploration and application of indigenous knowledge in regions across the country. The lessons in this curriculum provide examples of activities grounded in specific regions, and support further exploration and application of indigenous knowledge. This curriculum is due for publication through the National Association of Friendship Centres in 2012. Back to Services
